The Doordarshan News, usually referred to by its abbreviation as the “DD News”, is a state-owned TV news channel telecasting from Doordarshan Kendra Delhi. The Prasar Bharati Board approved the proposal to start a 24-hours news channel in place of DD-Metro. This was subsequently approved by the Union Cabinet in its meeting held on October 3, 2003.
